Vloeibare helium is naast de cryogene vloeistof met de allerlaagste temperatuur (-268,9 \u00b0C) ook nog eens extreem schaars en kostbaar.<\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Om te zorgen dat zo min mogelijk vloeibare helium verloren gaat tijdens het gebruik van een applicatie, worden <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Multiple Transfer Lines (MTL) <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ingezet.<\/span><\/p><p>Een <em>MTL<\/em> is \u00e9\u00e9n vacu\u00fcmleiding waarbinnen zich meerdere procesleidingen bevinden. E\u00e9n of meerdere hiervan brengen vloeibare helium vanaf een opslagtank of <em>liquefier<\/em> (via een <a href=\"https:\/\/demaco-cryogenics.com\/nl\/producten\/valve-boxes\/\"><em>valve box<\/em><\/a>) naar de applicatie.<\/p><p>Na gebruik warmt de helium op en ontstaat er gasvormige helium. Dit gas wordt vervolgens door \u00e9\u00e9n procesleiding weer teruggeleid (ook nu weer via een <em>valve box<\/em>) richting de <em>liquefier<\/em>, met twee mogelijke doelen:<\/p><ul><li>Via een <em>liquefier<\/em> wordt de gasvormige helium weer vloeibaar gemaakt, waardoor het opnieuw gebruikt kan worden. Zo blijft de kostbare vloeistof optimaal bewaard.<\/li><li>De binnenleiding met gasvormige helium (van zo\u2019n -250 \u00b0C) wordt gebruikt voor actieve koeling van een koper stralingsschild rondom de procesleidingen.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-656acf0 elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"656acf0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"image.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img fetchpriority=\"high\" 400;\">Omdat de helium binnen het systeem wordt hergebruikt, staat de combinatie van <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MTL<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> valve box <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">en <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">liquefier<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> bekend als een <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">closed-loop<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> systeem.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8f05b1c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8f05b1c\" 400;\">Een <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MTL<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> bestaat doorgaans uit de volgende onderdelen:<\/span><\/p><ul><li>Een vacu\u00fcm mantel van roestvast staal (304 (L), 321 of 316 (L)).\u00a0<\/li><li>Een koperen stralingsschild dat wordt gekoeld door gasvormige helium afkomstig van de applicatie, of door vloeibare stikstof.<\/li><li>Diverse procesleidingen, ge\u00efsoleerd met <em>multi-layer<\/em> isolatie van glas en aluminium en\/of Mylar.<\/li><li>Eventuele compensatoren die het krimpen van de koude leidingen opvangen.<\/li><li>Afstandhouders van glas-epoxy die zorgen dat de diverse leidingen elkaar niet raken.<\/li><li>De benodigde veelal gelaste koppelingen, die de <em>MTL<\/em> in de cryogene infrastructuur plaatsen.<\/li><li>Vacu\u00fcm-barri\u00e8res die dienen om het vacu\u00fcmsysteem in delen te scheiden en soms gebruikt worden als vaste punten binnen het systeem.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-362a963 elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"362a963\" Echter, het ontwerp van de infrastructuur gaat in overleg met de klant. Zo is de cryogene vloeistof vrijwel onmisbaar bij het koelen van supergeleidende magneten in deeltjesversnellers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ook in de <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">medical industry<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> wordt gebruik gemaakt van het fenomeen supergeleiding, voor bijvoorbeeld MRI-scans. MRI-scanners zijn daarom afhankelijk van vloeibare helium voor effici\u00ebnte koeling, maar gebruiken dit in een eigen gesloten systeem met een <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">cryocooler<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Waar vloeibare helium wordt gebruikt, zijn goede <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MTL<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> onmisbaar.
