Cryogenic Cooling Trays for the Automotive Industry

It’s all about Cryogenius.

Cryogenic cooling trays
Cryogenic cooling trays are regularly used in both the food industry and the automotive industry. Cooling trays in the automotive industry are special boxes, often filled with liquid nitrogen, in which engine parts are immersed for lightning-fast cooling for shrink-fit applications. Additional cooling wheels are usually placed in these trays to give the part time to cool without compromising production speed.

Specifications

Demaco supplies semi-closed vacuum insulated Cryogenic cooling trays to various customers in the automotive industry. Our Cryogenic cooling try as use a picostat (differential pressure gauge) as a level sensor installed in complete robotized production lines. This makes it possible to dip objects into the Cryogenic cooling trays automatically. For the automotive industry, we often place a thermal heater around the edge of our Cryogenic cooling trays to prevent the extreme interior cold from escaping.

Cooling trays applications in the automotive industry

Cooling trays in the automotive industry are widely used for the application of cold shrink technology. Cold shrink technology is used to shrink parts at extremely low nitrogen temperatures. By extremely cooling a part using our cooling trays, the part can shrink to the point where it can, for instance, be inserted into an engine block with only a light force. As soon as the part returns to ambient temperature, it expands again and will be firmly anchored in the engine block (this is called a shrink fit).

Accessory products

A cooling tray is always part of an infrastructure that includes vacuum insulated piping and quality enhancing products such as a phase separator, a cooling wheel, and possibly additional products. We supply all the products necessary for the optimal functioning of a cooling tray system.
