Saturday February 1st we have taken note of the message that our founder, former director and former commissioner
Th. W. Dekker passed away at the age of 83.
Theo, or Mr Dekker as it used to sound so familiar, laid the foundation for the current organization of Demaco 60 years ago. As a pioneer and entrepreneur pur sang, he has time and again pushed the boundaries of the possibilities and introduced the change-DNA from which we still reap the benefits on a daily basis. Starting in the barn behind his father’s parental home in Waarland, he first developed the agricultural mechanization and later the heating and steel construction as activities. Parallel to this, a machine factory developed that would eventually grow into a world-class cryogenic player.
When he was allowed to enjoy a well-deserved retirement in 1996, he assisted the management of the company for another ten years or so. And how proud he could be when he did his weekly rounds through the company. “Good morning Mr Dekker” was a natural greeting back there.
We are enormously grateful for what he has meant to Demaco and wish him all the peace and quiet he has been given.
