The European Space Agency in Noordwijk, The Netherlands, extensively tests satellites in European context, before these are brought into orbit.
In big testing chambers, which are meant to simulate the conditions in space, satellites are being tested for very high, as well as very low temperatures. With the sun shining on the satellite or not makes a huge difference in temperature. The cold shadow side is simulated by means of cooling shields, cooled down with liquid nitrogen.
Demaco designed, manufactured and installed the cryogenic infrastructure including the valve boxes for ESA ESTEC, which is being used for the distribution and control of the liquid nitrogen in different testing chambers.
