Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (FERMILAB) proceeds with its design and construction of PIP-II, an accelerator upgrade project that will provide increased beam power to generate an unprecedented stream of neutrinos — subatomic particles that could unlock our understanding of the universe — and enable a broad program of physics research for many years to come. The PIP-II (Proton Improvement Plan II) accelerator upgrades are integral to the Fermilab-hosted Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE), which is the largest international science experiment ever to be conducted on U.S. soil.
Fermilab has undertaken a program of research and development, known as the PIP-II Injector Test (PIP2IT), aiming at integrated systems testing of critical components comprising the PIP-II front end. The Cryogenic Distribution System (CDS) for PIP2IT consists of the internal and external cryogenic transfer line, connecting the SCP to the cryomodules via the Distribution Box (DB). The cryogenic transfer line is divided into two sections; one located outside the Cave designated as External Transfer Line (ETL) and the other located inside the Cave, designated as Internal Transfer Line (ITL).
Demaco executed the contract for the design, engineering, manufacturing, testing and delivery of the Cryogenic Distribution System. The project was executed with the desired quality and within the required time schedule. It’s all about Cryogenius.
